Local Surge Media is an Austin-based digital marketing agency working with both local and national clients. We serve as their external digital marketing department, spearheading all of their online efforts. Our clients span a wide range of industries, and the projects we complete for them are just as varied. We do everything from SEO to website design to email marketing campaigns to social media as part of their overall digital strategy.
Where do you come in?
As an intern, your educational experience will involve working closely with our entire team – so we’re looking for a good fit! Our ideal candidates are reliable, positive, hardworking and eager to learn. We’re seeking collaborative team players who are also self-sufficient go-getters. The startup environment isn’t for everyone, so a level of flexibility is necessary. While we work hard, we do like to maintain a fun office atmosphere. If you’re a foodie with a talent for hitting the bull’s-eye on a dart board, we’ll probably get along just fine.
As a startup company, every day is different. You’ll have the unique opportunity to get your hands in a variety of projects during your internship, gaining diverse experiences and learning new skills. One day you might be pinning images of ponies, the next editing a press release or assembling reports from Google Analytics. Below are a few general areas where our interns help out. (Though keep in mind that this list is not set in stone!)
-Developing blog post ideas and editing written content
-Updating social media outlets, including Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google + and LinkedIn
-Editing and publishing press releases announcing client news
-Researching online community outreach opportunities and more
-Helping to coordinate online community outreach efforts
-Aiding website optimization strategies
-Compiling and reviewing analytic data on various digital marketing efforts, including blog content and social media
-Enrolled at a college or university
-Able to meet requirements to receive academic credit from your college or university
-Available 12-15 hours per week to work in our office
-An interest in working in the digital sphere
-Strong writing and editing skills (knowledge of AP Style is a plus)
-Preferably majoring in a relevant communications field, such as marketing, advertising, journalism or public relations
-Wordpress experience preferred
-Social media experience preferred
